Niloufar Baghernia is a research scholar at the Centre for Arab and Islamic Studies (CAIS), the Australian National University. She completed her B.A. in Political Science and her M.A. in International Relations at the University of Guilan (Iran). To deepen her knowledge, she studied for one semester in Modern East Asian Studies (MEAS) at Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, Germany. In addition, Niloufar won two scholarships at the ANU and the University of Melbourne in International Relations to commence her PhD in Australia.
Her research interests include International Relations and IR Theory; however, she seeks to combine International Relations with Area Studies in her thesis. The Middle East and countries such as Iran and China are those she pursues to publish in academic and non-academic outlets. Niloufar has also published peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Asian Politics and Policy (APP) and the International Quarterly of Geopolitics. She has translated books into Persian and contributed to Iranian journals, namely, Iranian Review of Foreign Affairs and Journal of Subcontinent Research.
Niloufar has presented her conference papers in Iran, Turkey, and Serbia, and she is the editor of students' essays at E-International Relations and guest researcher at the Institute for Middle East Strategic Studies in Iran.
